SEAMAP Real-time Plots for the year 2026

Week 1

Below is the first preliminary data summary for the 2026 SEAMAP Summer Shrimp/Groundfish Survey in the northern Gulf of America. This week's summary includes sampling conducted by NMFS aboard the R/V Oregon II from June 6-8, 2026. Catch data were collected using a 40-ft trawl.

Plotted catch rates have been standardized to pounds per hour for a 40-ft trawl. Shrimp counts are reported as heads-on counts. The grid squares shown on the charts represent 10-minute latitude-longitude grids. The value displayed within each grid square is the average catch rate or count from all stations sampled within that grid, which may include one or more sampling stations. Sampling stations were selected randomly within depth strata.

Catch data indicated that the highest catch rate of brown shrimp was 123.8 lb/hr at a depth of 9 fm, located at 29°50' N latitude and 88°43' W longitude. The highest catch rate of white shrimp was 59.1 lb/hr at a depth of 7 fm, located at 29°38' N latitude and 88°49' W longitude. The highest catch rate of pink shrimp was 0.3 lb/hr at a depth of 26 fm, located at 29°07' N latitude and 88°56' W longitude. The maximum combined catch rate for all three shrimp species was 822 lb/hr at a depth of 7 fm, located at 29°38' N latitude and 88°49' W longitude.
