Lyles-Simpson Award Luncheon - William Borden Wallace
The Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission is pleased to announce that the 2019 Lyles-Simpson Award has been awarded to Borden Wallace. This prestigious Award is presented annually to an individual, agency, or organization which has contributed to the betterment of the fisheries of the Gulf of Mexico through significant biological, industrial, legislative, enforcement, or administrative activities.
General Session: “The 2019 Freshwater Impacts Along the Northern Gulf of Mexico”
The afternoon portion of the Technical Coordinating Committee meeting will be dedicated to a General Session to discuss the 2019 freshwater impacts to marine natural resources along the northern Gulf of Mexico.
Menhaden Reference Points Workshop 2 - Day 3
A second Stakeholder Workshop was held on July 17-19, 2019 to follow-up on the tasks identified and inputs received during the first workshop from February 2019. The July workshop included a number of stakeholders from the industry, conservation groups, and marine resource agencies and narrowed down the potential reference points available for management and addressed the pros and cons of each.

General Session: Off-Bottom Oyster Aquaculture in the Gulf of Mexico
Join the seven 2018 Aquaculture Small Grants Program award recipients as they present the results of their current projects funded through the Commission’s cooperative effort with NOAA’s Office of Aquaculture. The small grants program was developed to address the technical and regulatory opportunities and challenges of oyster farming in the Gulf region such as spatial planning and siting, regulatory constraints, and production challenges.
